Grand Coulee / Portland

It's a hot day for a dam tour!

The high for the day was 100 degrees.  Good thing we did a morning tour, so it was about 80.

Silly hubs

The dam was built to generate hydroelectric power and provide irrigation throughout the Northwest.  You can read more about it on the wiki page.  =)

Before our tour, they told us we were going to be followed by an armed guard.   He had a huge gun, and was not wearing a smile.  911 definitely changed things. Seriously!  I didn't know the Grand Coulee was such a hot spot.  The location is so remote.

And we're off!  Next stop Portland...

Here's a couple photos on the way...

The drive was beautiful.  We passed by Mt. Hood and the Columbia River.  We didn't stop, so I couldn't get any good pictures.

After the 6 or so hours of driving we arrive in Portland to meet with our cousin's mom for dinner at Henry's Tavern.

Those fries were sooo good!  The five of us ate it all up.  I couldn't really eat my entree after that.
