DC wasn’t very friendly to us today. We woke up at 830, and in an hour we were out the door. That’s when the trouble began. We found the door that lead to the bus stop by Tyson’s Galleria. We stood there a good ten minutes. Only problem is it drops us off at the next stop, and we had to wait another half hour. We arrive at West Falls Church, and are on our way to the Pentagon. The Pentagon had super high security. We just walked out of the metro and back in. We figured the Arlington Cemetery wouldn’t have any food, so we went to Pentagon City and ate lunch at the mall. The mall was huge! It’s 4 stories high. I wish we had more time to shop around. Our schedule got really messed up because of the bus. I hate the bus system here!! We went to Arlington Cemetery after brunch. We stayed there a good 2 hours. We passed by JFK memorial and saw the changing of the guards at the unknown soldiers tomb. We wanted to walk across the Arlington bridge, but there was no more time. I wanted to see the memorials today because it was going to be nice out. We haven’t even seen the reflection pool. Rain is predicted for tomorrow, so it looks like we’ll be at the mall Saturday.
We were really strapped for time because of the International Spy Museum. I would bypass the mission only because our group was so large. I couldn’t think with all of them there. I guess if I were a spy, I would want to work alone or with one partner. This museum was worth every minute though. I have to go back and learn about all the spies in history. My gosh it’s full of information! I need to stay there for longer than 2 hours. I think we were there a good 3 hours minus the mission.
We were starved. Our only source of food was the lunch. I was breaking down big time. We ate at Bistro d’oc. It was French food right next to the house that Lincoln died in. We had escargot, onion soup, seafood salad, and salmon. Everything was flavorful. I think the salmon was a little too oily for my taste. We were extremely full after eating. There was no room for dessert.
Our journey home wasn’t as difficult as I thought it was going to be. =) I might actually like the bus tomorrow. 3rd time’s a charm. Wish us luck!
