On the Inside

I gave you guys an idea of what we were working on the outside,* now it's time to show you guys what we've started doing on the inside.

Hint One
Hint Two
Notice anything?  Yep!  We removed the cabinet doors.  Yay!!  The cabinets are just too dark for me, so we're going to paint them white.  =)  Right now, we're removing the oils and gloss with TSP diluted 6:1.  Liz helped me last night with wiping them down.  Thanks Liz!!

Amazing how much the color has lightened up with chemical.  Can't wait to see what the magic of white paint can do to our kitchen!

In addition to the change in the kitchen, we're putting recessed lighting through out the house.  Doug, uncle, and Jaime are in charge of this task.  Looks great so far!

Photo above are the holes in the living room getting ready for the lights.  We did two sets of switches- 3 per switch.  Not sure if you can see, but there's one of Jaime's knee pads sticking out of one of the holes.  Courtesy of my hubby.  =P

Doug fell out of the ceiling while trying to get in. Stories say that Jaime has fallen through the ceiling in every house he has renovated.  Not ours yet...

This is the current state of our living room in the evening with the lights on.  Love it!  =)

*More photos to come.  At the time of this post, the landscaping is nearly dumped. Just a few more palms and stumps to go.   No worries I'll post up a full thing on what we did, once I get the photos out of the SLR.  I'm glad I took some snaps with my phone or else I wouldn't blog about anything!

  1. did you guys get energy saving recessed lights? we have them throughout our house and it definitely keeps the house cooler as well as saves energy ($$$). costco has them for a good price. :)

  2. We'll have energy saving bulbs. We didn't get the energy saving housing because it would cost an arm and a leg to redo all the lights this way. I figure recessed lighting is a good invest because they're timeless. Glad we went this route. Thanks for the costco tip! I'll have to head there. We have about 45 light bulbs to purchase. Yikes~
