Busy Bag - Felt Button Chain

I'm participating in a busy bag exchange next week.  I made these felt button chains to swap.

It was pretty easy until I realized there's 10 people participating.  I'd have to sew 60 buttons.  Yikes!  I wasn't even sure I could do a good job with one button.  =P  Luckily, after about 20 I found the technique, and I was on my way.  haha only took 20 tries.

Pretty cool huh?  It looks easy for us to do, but for toddlers to button and chain it takes some practice.  This activity is supposed to encourage them to fine tune their motor skills.  They can also name the colors and shapes of the buttons.  I gave one red one to Sean, and he was trying to tear it.  I think he's not ready for it just yet.  It's felt which is strong, but I don't think it'll hold up if he just stretches it out.

I can't wait to see what the other bags contain!  Hoping there's another swap soon.  I miss crafting.  =)

I came up with an alternative task for him to keep busy.  He liked it much better for now.  I had him put the buttons inside the slots of the lid.  He liked to shake it afterwards.  I also keep a close eye on him because once he started losing interest he put the buttons in his mouth.  Don't worry, I take it away and put it on the table where he can't reach.
