This weekend a few friends and I sanded down the ceiling. Thanks L&K~ Greatly appreciated because I would have had to do the whole thing by myself. I'm sure I would have keeled over if that were to happen. Instead, I awoke Sunday morning super super sore. We kind of did it the hard way...by hand. I need to remember- machines are our friends. They will help out a LOT when you need them! So I made a new friend. The power sander.* His name is Dewalt. =) There were a few areas we missed, so I went over it again with Dewalt. Worked like a charm! I love it now. I can't wait to sand down the cabinets before painting them. So excited!
*I had lots of practice sanding down a wall, but the ceiling was a lot more challenging. Having to hold it above my head was really tough. Trusting that it wouldn't fall on me was even tougher. Just be careful if you ever try it. Make sure you wear safety glasses and a mask. Dust will fly, and you don't want to eat dust. Also wear close toed shoes. I wore sandals, but that's a really bad idea. I could have shaved off my appendages. yikes to even think about. bad bad...
Totally forgot~ We also bought 5 gallons of primer, 5 gallons of white ceiling paint, and 5 gallons of joint compound. What a work out~ for my hubs!

I'm almost done picking the paint colors. We plan to use Behr paint because it seemed to have good quality and is also cost efficient. We're going to color match the colors from different brands onto Behr.
Since I love Young House Love soooo much, I'm choosing some of the colors they used. Moonshine & Carolina Inn Club Aqua. The colors are so fresh~ I love it. =)
Moonshine (color match) - formal dining room, two bathrooms (maybe the master), and the office
Carolina Inn Club Aqua (color match) - master bedroom (may rethink this and move to the kitchen. Just saw the Power Bower's kitchen. Looks similar to this Carolina Inn Club Aqua color. I like!)
Ultra Pure White 1850 - kitchen cabinets, and trim throughout the house
Raffia Cream - hallways, entry, and living room minus the accent wall
Cayman Bay or Catalina Coast - accent wall for the living room
Bedford Gray (color match) - laundry room
Our current bedroom is a beige color, but I need to hunt down what it is. I really want to use it in the house somewhere- maybe the 2nd bedroom or the kitchen. I'm so close to finishing up the color choices. Thank goodness~ my poor Doug has listened to me blabbing on and on about this...
