First thing you gotta do when you buy a house is change the locks. We got locks courtesy of dad (THANKS DAD!) with the smart key, so we just have to carry around one key. Yay! We're not going to be janitors anytime soon. (no offense to janitors of course) We gave uncle a key because he's the one who's gonna be coming over and fixing up a lot of the little things. Needless to say, he was a bit reluctant to take it. I found out that he has keys to every one's house and doesn't really know what belongs to what. haha I told him I'd go to disney and get a key cover to help him out. =)
I love this rich dark bronze color. So I had dad pick up these deadbolts. Kwikset calls the color Venetian Bronze. Fancy fancy!! I do have a dilemma going on in my head. Since the new hardware is dark bronze, and the old ones are brushed nickel does everything have to be changed to dark bronze? The faucets, toilet paper holder, kitchen knobs, lights? How matchy matchy should things be?

Hubby, uncle, and Jaime installed them, and they look lovely! Sorry for the terrible phone shots, but it seems to be the only way I can get myself to post photos right now...

While the guys worked on the doors, the ladies worked on some tough stuff. We plan on scraping the ceiling and retexturing it, so we need to cover up the carpet to keep it clean. Auntie, mom, and I taped the floor. Sounds easy right? Boy were we sweating! Jaime brought over a really big roll of commercial grade clear tape.

This thing is so heavy! Serious sweating! Anyways, we finished the living room and the second bedroom. We still have the master to go. We ran out of tape so we're waiting to get more. Here's how the living room currently looks. We have no lights, so it's a bit dark.
Awesome huh? If the tape is stepped on, the perforations would split. To prevent this we had to go vertical and horizontal. So the big roll did not cover. Wow!
That was day one of our house clean up. We'll see what's in store for tonight. I'm so lucky to have married into such a loving family. We're a good team!
