A couple weekends past already!

I started this post two weeks ago...

Two Friday evenings ago, Doug and I went on another rare "date night." It's tough finding spare time where we can just go out. I wonder what's gonna happen when the kids come! Anyways, NeverWonderland was playing at the Miles Memorial Playhouse. There's limited seating in this small old church. The production was put on by BoomKat consisting of students from USC. The performance was all interpretive dance. No dialogue, no singing. We thought it was awesome! The story goes... Peter Pan and Alice [from Wonderland] are siblings, and they end up in another time. The music carries you through the story, and the dance creates all the actions/emotions. It's called NeverWonderland because BoomKat couldn't figure out which story they wanted to perform ~ Alice in Wonderland or Peter Pan. So they combined them! That's my kind of compromise. We really had a great time!

We're trying to jump start a themed movie night. Probably monthly or bi-monthly. We're going to have food based on the theme/location/time period of the movie we're watching. Our first choice was When Harry Met Sally. The conversations that Harry have with Sally are hilarious! It was my first time seeing the movie, and I lovedit! For this evening, I prepared NY Chicken and Rice. It was yummy! I don't remember if it tastes exactly like the original, but it's good. I got the recipe from Chowhound. It's the cookiecutter post. I improvised on the red sauce, and did Siracha with Greek yogurt, some lemon juice, salt and pepper. Good sauce for anything really!

My sister made her famous pizza. The crust was the best part! It dips really great with the red and white sauce that I made.

Liz brought sliders. They were so good! Carmalized onions, yum!

Lisa brought Susie Cakes cupcakes. 5 different kinds! All so moist, and not overly sweet.

Let's just say, we had no leftovers! =)

Sunday was another eventful day. Busy weekend huh? =P We went on an Ethiopian Food Tour. Just found out they have a tour in DC too! Ooo gotta go! Our tour guide said that DC has the most Ethiopian population in the United States. I bet the food is even more delicious there!
