Anza Borrego

This past weekend, we went on our annual Pismo trip. We were reminiscent of Anza Borrego. Here's pictures from the Anza Borrego trip during wildflower season.

They have such cute signs. =)

Doug went camping in Anza Borrego every Thanksgiving as a kid. He took me there earlier this year. Just us two. It was our first camping trip alone. I loved it! We arrived whenever we wanted to. We didn't even reserve a spot. We just loaded up the car with all our gear, and off we went. I'd have it say, that was probably one of the most spontaneous things we've ever done. We got to the camp grounds, and ended up with the last spot. We used all our camping gear from the wedding for the first time. =) Thanks to all who contributed! (that's us re-enacting our dance in the desert)
Here's Doug setting up our tent:

After that, we bought some necessities. Luckily we didn't buy anymore. His trunk was full!

Then we headed off on our hike to look at wildflowers. There was a lot around, but it was super windy. My allergies were acting up, but I had to fight thru it. Who could miss this beauty??

We stumbled upon this caterpillar while hiking around. You may want to avert your eyes if you have a fear of bugs.

After the hike, we made dinner.

We got up super early and caught the sunrise. It was beautiful. Our campsite was right next to a hill so we climbed it. I think this was my first time watching a sunrise.

The flowers are just getting up too...

Traditional breakfast in Anza Borrego~ chorizo! Yum and filling!

On our way back we saw some more wildflowers along the road.

And this!! Don't worry, I was able to talk some sense into the elephant. =)

Lastly, we stopped at Mom's for pie, and the pickle jar. =) (the pickle is not from Mom's. It can be found across the street, at a store name I forgot.)
